About us

Same people, same desk, every year.

Ruth Whitcombe opened the office on Mercer Street in 1998. The radiator still clanks every November.

How it started

The first client was a florist with a shoebox. The second was her brother, who owned the hardware store next door.

Ruth had spent nine years at a large firm watching small business owners get passed from one junior accountant to the next. Nobody remembered their name or their numbers from one April to the following one.

So she kept Whitcombe small. Three accountants, one office and a promise that the person who did your books last year will do them again this year.

The team

Three accountants. You’ll know them all.

What we believe

Three rules we don’t bend.

I

Plain English

If we can’t explain it in a sentence, we haven’t understood it yet.

II

No surprises

Your price is fixed for a year. If something changes, you hear it from us first.

III

Early, always

We file before the deadline, not on it. Every single time.
